Zachary's Pre-K Graduation!

It's been a while. I apologize! But we are moving in two weeks and things have just been crazy getting ready for that. There really hasn't been anything specific in Zach news to post over the last month other than the normal "he's really doing great" and "we're so proud of his achievements" statements. They're true of course, but I know I start sounding like a broken record. So I now wait for something specific to update on, and I've got something! Zachary graduated from Pre-K last night!!!

It was the cutest thing ever! He was complete with cap, gown and tassel! They called each child by name and they walked across the stage all official to get their "diploma" from their teacher. Zachary even got "Special recognition for Spanish"!!!! About 15-20 kids got special recognitions out of the 100 or so kids, and my boy was one of them!!! I literally had a tear in my eye, and I'm not really a cryer :-) I was so proud of him, but it just hit me even more that there was this little boy who has had such a difficult road and so many more challenges to face than other kids his age getting SPECIAL RECOGNITION!!! Amazing!

So after the diplomas the kids put on a performance where each one had a part; some singing in groups, some reading bible versus or from a book, etc. Zachary got a speaking part.... let me state that again... my autistic, once totally non-verbal child got a SPEAKING PART at a totally typical Pre-K! Amazing! He got to do vowel-consonant blends, and he nailed it - with gusto!!! :-) The kid's not shy on a stage or with a microphone!

So it was a fabulous night indeed! Next we're off to Kindergarten!!!!!
